Gingersnap Cookies
The house smells so good when you bake these Gingernap Cookies. They come out crisp and chewy and even won a blue ribbon at the 4-H fair. The following recipe is adapted from Allrecipes.com.

Gingersnap Cookies

Ingredients:
3/4 cup Shortening ( I used butter)
1 cup Sugar
1 egg 1/4 cup Molasses
2 cups flour plus 1 Tablespoon if dough is sticky
2 teaspoons Baking Soda
2 teaspoons Ground Ginger
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground Cloves
1/2 teaspoon Salt

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl cream the shortening and sugar. Beat in the egg and molasses. Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture.  Drop teaspoon of dough into bowl of sugar, roll into balls and place on cookie sheet. They will spread.
Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes for chewy cookies  or 10-12 if you like them crispier. Enjoy!
